Hokkaido: Giving Thanks

Okay, today is Thursday, November 26, 2020. We’re a day early but in the US, this week is the Thanksgiving holiday. Most people will have Thursday off to celebrate with loved ones. The following day is the infamous Black Friday where people go out to the shops and get trampled to death try to steal some deals and bargains.

But all joking aside, though, there’s lots of Black Friday events going on at the stores in Hokkaido. Again, it’s a way for the stores to try to garner some sales and to try to salvage this year of business. I hope they succeed, but I will not be one of those people hitting up the stores just to save a few bucks. I want to be home on my warm comfy sofa and my glass of wine…but I have to go to work.

Sigh.

However, that’s not the point of this blog post. Today, I am giving thanks for the things that I love about Hokkaido:

Powder and beautiful winters

Good food

Cool summers

Public transportation that works

Space

Mountains and beautiful scenery

Friendly, helpful people

I can go on and on, but I need to log off my computer and get ready for work.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Stay safe and healthy.
