About This Blog

Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Welcome to my little blog about Hokkaido.

I’m Rochelle, an American and New Jersey native transplanted to Japan. I’ve been living in Hokkaido since 2004 so most of my posts are anecdotal. Truthfully, I only have a singular perspective because I’ve lived here pretty much and never lived anywhere else in Japan. I came here right after I finished college and just fell in love with the country. I was lucky enough to be placed in Sapporo as my first job posting as an English teacher.

Everyday, I pinch myself just to make sure I’m not dreaming because I am so blessed to be living in such an awesome place.

If you can’t tell, I really really love it here.

This blog is dedicated to life in Hokkaido, particularly when it comes to travel, food, and just daily life. I do give some tips and ideas on where to travel and visit, but I also post a lot of food pics and lots of random things that fascinate me about life in the northernmost island of Japan. If you’ve traveled to different parts of the country, you’ll see that Hokkaido is unique and quite unlike the other areas of Japan.

Again, thank you for stopping by. I hope you’ll explore with me as I share with you my adventures in Hokkaido.

And if you guys have any questions or comments, just reach out and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Happy reading!

Rochelle 😁
